Marrakech
Pronounced in Arabic ( marrak’che) was for a long time the southern rival to Fez as an imperial capital.
Marrakesh is situated on a vast field of “houz” surrounded by seven kilometers of red walls in “tybia” a mixture of pink sand and chalk. This color cover the monuments of the city as well as its houses old and new what gives it the surname of “ al hamra” the red.
The ramparts emerged in 1126/27 , to replace the bramble barriers that protected the first almoravide camp. The first almoravide subject included the atlas tribes, desert tribes, different African and Moroccan populations conquered as well as the black slaves taken.
Thus , the natural site of Marrakesh is a breathtaking beauty, situated in a huge plain taken over the desert by the tenacity of men ,with , on the background the majestic high atlas, the biggest mountain assembly of morocco, with snowy tops and with a palmeraie belt of thousand and one palm tree.. a view That leave you speecheless.
